The Path to Pointe (Prerequisites)

Dancing on pointe is a major milestone that requires a strong foundation in classical ballet. Generally, students must be studying at RAD Grade 5 level or higher and demonstrate sufficient core and ankle strength. We conduct individual assessments to determine readiness, ensuring that every student is physically prepared for the demands of pointework.

Introduction to Pointe

For those who have just received their first pair of pointe shoes, this class focuses on the basics. We start slowly with:

Correctly sewing ribbons and elastics.
Learning how to care for feet and shoes.
Basic strengthening exercises at the barre.
Understanding proper alignment and weight placement.

Progressive & Advanced Pointework

As students gain strength and confidence, they move into more complex training. These classes bridge the gap between barre work and centre practice, focusing on:

Building stamina and endurance.
Refining articulation of the foot.
Learning classical repertoire and variations.
